Lesley Bories-Scalise Executive/Artistic Director,
Ballet Instructor






Mrs. Bories-Scalise began her training in Flint, Michigan with Gala Zukevich. At the age
of 12 she was invited, under full scholarship, to attend the National Ballet of Canada. She also studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Interlochen Arts Academy, North Carolina School of the Arts and was one of six young dancers chosen from across the U.S. to attend a summer intensive with Suzanne Farrell and Paul Mejia in upstate New
York. Mrs. Bories-Scalise began her professional career in 1986 with the Chicago City Ballet under the direction of Maria Tallchief. She then danced with Ballet Chicago under the direction of Daniel Duell. While dancing with Ballet Chicago, she was a guest soloist in Ruth Page’s, The Nutcracker, directed by Larry Long. Mrs. Bories- Scalise was then invited to join the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre under the direction of Patricia Wilde and Terrence Orr. She has performed numerous principal roles, some of which include: Balanchine’s Square Dance, Western Symphony, Jewels, Apollo, The Four Temperaments, and The Nutcracker. Other principal roles include Daniel Duell’s Hansel and Gretel, Marius Petipa’s Sleeping Beauty and Lisa de Ribre’s Amazing Grace. Mrs. Bories-Scalise has served on the teaching faculty of The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, Broadway Bound Dance Academy. She is currently a guest teacher with Point Park University, New Castle Regional Dance, and Greater York Center for Dance Education among others.

 

About the School

The Lake Erie Ballet School is part of the Lake Erie Ballet Company, a non-profit organization incorporated as the Erie Civic Ballet in 1957. The mission of our organization, in addition to providing professional training, is to promote dance in the
community by offering quality performances to the general public. We also conduct
special performances for school-aged audiences, offer arts in education programs to
schools throughout Northwest Pennsylvania and reach out to a diverse student/audience base.

Alethea Lea Bodine
Arts in Education
Instructor

Alethea Lea Bodine completed her BA in Dance Performance from Mercyhurst College in 1991 and has since been Artistic Director and Chief Administrator of the Titusville Dance Conservatory, briefly at North Coast Dance, and the moving space.  During this time Ms. Bodine also performed with Dafmark Dance Theater, her own company Chronic Dance and most recently, Shen and Bones Performance Group.  As Arts in Education Coordinator for the Lake Erie Ballet she continues to conduct dance residencies at several Erie area public and private schools and other local organizations. 

Michelle Boscaljon
Ballet Instructor

Michelle Boscaljon received much of her training from Charthel Arthur, current Ballet Mistress of the Joffrey Ballet, and Robert Estner, former member of the Joffrey. She was a member of both the Grand Rapids Junior Ballet and the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. Michelle was invited to dance with the Joffrey Concert Dancers with Jim Snyder, National Academy of Arts, Milwaukee Ballet School, and ABT II. She has performed in many productions including the Nutcracker, Giselle, Coppelia, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Carmina Burana, Les Patineurs, and many others.

Carrie Burns-Frase
Ballet Instructor

Carrie Burns-Frase, an Erie native, began her training at the Erie Civic Ballet School under Arlene Hay. She spent summers dancing in the Chautauqua Dance Festival Company under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Violette Verdy. She attended Goucher College in Baltimore, MD where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and was honored with the Rosenberg scholarship and Phi Beta Kappa Award in dance. After graduating, she danced professionally for seven years with the Lake Erie Ballet under various directors and performing numerous ballets. She has performed lead roles as a guest artist in Johnstown, PA and Baltimore, MD in ballets such as Nutcracker, Coppelia, and Sleeping Beauty. Carrie began teaching in 1992 as a ballet instructor with the Erie Bayfront Ballet. She has held teaching positions at Central High School, Northcoast Ballet, Mercyhurst College, Westminster Ice Skating Association, Lake Erie Ballet and other guest locations. Carrie continues to enjoy choreographing and performing liturgical pieces for Erie First Assembly of God Church.

Kirsten Carpenter
Ballet Instructor

Kirsten Carpenter began her dance training as a high school student in Orange County, CA. Seeking to further her education, Kirsten studied dance at Mercyhurst College from 1991 to 1993 under the direction of Mary Price Boday and Jay Kirk, where she was a soloist and corps member in several classical and contemporary pieces. While there, she also performed in the Nutcracker with Lake Erie Ballet under the direction of Jeff Satinoff. Kirsten continued her studies at San Francisco State University, where she performed in contemporary pieces with EMBAJE. In addition, she also performed in many other student and bay area choreographer showcases. Kirsten has been teaching ballet and contemporary dance at Carlsbasd Dance Centre since 1998 and has directed numerous ballets, including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Rodeo. Many dancers under Kirsten’s tutelage have gone on to seek degrees in dance from several outstanding universities, while others have aspired to careers in professional dance. Kirsten is thrilled to be back in Erie and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and passion with the LEB students.

Lana Rae Crotty
Adult Ballet, Jazz,
Modern Instructor

Lana Rae Crotty graduated from Mercyhurst College with a BA in Dance Performance,
as well as a BA in Business Marketing. Currently, Mrs. Crotty is working toward her masters degree in Organizational Leadership. Her stage experience includes Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as contemporary choreography and musicals. Mrs. Crotty’s most recent role was Effie in Mercyhurst College’s presentation of La Sylphide. She has had the privilege to study from Vivi Flindt, Janice Barringer, Mdm. Nathalie Krassovska, Laura Alonso, Frank Hatchett, and Savion Glover. Mrs. Crotty teaching experience includes Lynn Scott School of Dance, Perrinton Dance Co., Flower City Ballet, and Erie Bayfront Dance.

Jenn Camodeca
Ballet Instructor

Ms. Camodeca graduated from Mercyhurst College with a BA in Dance Performance as well as a BA in Communications and a minor in Business Marketing. Currently, Ms. Camodeca is working towards her masters degree in Business Administration with a marketing concentration at Gannon University. Ms. Camodeca has danced with Ballet Theatre Ashtabula, Mercyhurst Dancers and was a Lake Erie Ballet Company member from 1999- 2004. Her stage experience includes leading roles in Paquita, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, and The Nutcracker.
