Summer is a great time to try a new dance class - ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap or character – and a great time to get a jumpstart on Fall! Classes for children (ages 7+) and adults will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm throughout the summer. See our Summer Term Schedule.

Summer Intensives: This year the Lake Erie Ballet will offer two week long intensives (June 17 – 22 & August 19 - 24). This five day program includes ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap & character classes Monday through Friday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with a special Dancers Forum and a Friday Reception from 3:30-5:00 pm, during which time the dancers will share the works they learned during the intensive. Prince and Princess Camps: Of course we would never forget our youngest fans this summer! For the newest members of our LEB family, we have a very special program offered these times throughout the summer (June 24-28, July 22-26 & August 5-9).

This year marks the Lake Erie Ballet's 65th year of providing professional dance training and performance to the Erie area. This is season is an exceptional one - providing opportunities for students, performers and unforgettable experiences for dance audiences alike. In December of 2012 LEB hosted it's 54th annual Nutcracker with Conductor, Hugh Keelan and Allison Walsh & Richard Villaverde of BalletX as featured guests. In January of 2013 LEB will contribute works by Erie natives, James Dixon and Carrie Burns-Frase, to the 7th Biennial Festival of Dance hosted by the Erie Dance Consortium. In April the LEB will reprise Kim Lewis-Howell's The Jungle Book with a musical score by Davy Sturdevant . And in May, the LEB Companies will present Sleeping Beauty at the Erie Playhouse.
Hugh Keelan returns to Erie in 2013 to conduct the 55th Annual Nutcracker at the Warner Theatre. Hugh is best known in the Erie area as Music Director for the Erie Philharmonic from 2000 to 2006. Maestro Keelan's repertoire encompasses the body of the standard orchestral, concerto and operatic repertoire. Complete cycles of Beethoven and Brahms are complemented by an impressive array of premiers (World, American, European) by such composers as William Alexander, Keith Amos, Bruce Broughton, Robin Holloway, Jiri Pauer, Bernard Rands, Eric Tanguy, Reza Vali and Richard Wernick.
Point Park University in Pittsburgh joins forces with Lake Erie Ballet for Nutcracker 2013. Career Accomplishments of some Conservatory Alumni include: Pearlann Porter - Founding Artistic Director and principle choreographer of The Pillow Project, and one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch in 2010" and Rob Ashford - Choreographer for Cry Baby, Curtains, The Wedding Singer, and 2002 Tony Winner for Choreography for Thoroughly Modern Millie and many many more.
Dance For PD - a new program for people suffering from Parkinson Disease. This popular class, which has been offered at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn since 2001, is appropriate for anyone with PD, no matter how advanced. No dance experience is required. In chairs, at a barre or moving across the floor, you will explore elements of modern dance, ballet, tap, folk and social dancing, and Mark Morris company repertory in a non-pressured, social environment in which live music energizes, enriches and empowers.
