AUDITIONS:

2012 Nutcracker Auditions and Registration Fees

Performance Dates for this year's event are Dec. 14-16, 2012 at the Warner Theater.

The Lake Erie Ballet will be holding auditions for the 2012 Nutcracker on the following dates.
Lake Erie Ballet – Academy of Dance students are asked to audition if they intend to perform in this production, if your student is unable to attend the audition – please contact the Lake Erie Ballet office at your earliest convenience.
These auditions are free and open to the public.

Pre-Professional Audition: ages 13 +
Sat. Sept. 15th, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm - Studio A
LEB Studios, 701 Holland St.

  • Please bring bio and headshot for this audition on a disc.
  • Ladies, please bring point shoes for the second part of the audition.
  • Pre-Professional rehearsals will be held on Tuesday & Thursday evening 7:30 - 9:30 pm, Saturday 2:30 - 4:30 pm

Childrens & Student Division Audition: ages 3 - 12
Sat. Sept. 22nd , 12:00-5:00 pm
LEB Studios, 701 Holland St.

  • Please bring children at least 15 mins. early for registration.
  • Please read the packet of information provided before auditioning.
  • Please do not audition if you do not intend to participate.
  • Rehearsals will be held on Monday evening 7:00 - 8:00 pm, Saturday 1:30 - 3:30 pm

All dancers auditioning should be stretched and warm before auditioning. Studios B & C will be open for this express purpose ~ please do not leave your child unattended during this time period. Dancers will be called to queue in Studio B 5 mins. prior to each audition time.

  • 11:45 - 12:15, ages 3 - 4
  • 12:30 - 1:15, ages 5 - 6
  • 1:30 - 2:00, ages 7 - 8
  • 2:15 - 3:30, ages 9 - 10
  • 3:45 - 4:30, ages 11 - 13

The Role of Clara: ages 11 - and up
Sat. Sept. 22nd , 4:45 - 6:00 pm

  • 4:45 - 6:00 pm, Clara Audition (ages 11 - 17)

For those students ages 11-13 auditioning for the role of Clara, please plan to attend both the 3:45-4:30 and the 4:45–6:00 auditions. Students 13 and older should attend September 15 auditions, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Please bring a short essay about your reasons for pursuing the role of Clara and why you feel you would be a good candidate for the role. This essay is due to the LEB studios by Sept. 14th.

Adult Auditions:

Adult Nutcracker Auditions (Casting for Party Scene Parents, Giant Mice & Giant Soldiers)
Sat. Sept. 10, 1:00 - 2:00 pm
LEB Studios, 701 Holland St.

  • Dancers should dress in something comfortable and easy to move in.
  • Those cast will be asked to rehearse on Saturdays between 2:00 - 5:30 pm starting Sat. Nov. 3, 2012.

Production & Costuming Fees:

Every participant involved in the Nutcracker, excluding LEB Company members and apprentices, must pay a non-refundable Production Fee. The fees are defined as follows:

  • Students enrolled in the Lake Erie Ballet - Academy of Dance: $75
  • Families enrolled at Lake Erie Ballet - Academy of Dance: $120 / per family
  • All other visiting participants: $105
  • Visiting Families: $150 / per family
  • Costuming fees (fee is added only beyond initial role): $12 / per costume

All Production Fees are due Oct. 27, 2012 unless payment arrangements are made otherwise.

Volunteer Information:

Any parent who signs up as a Nutcracker Volunteer and completes their volunteer service hours before, during or after the performances can request a $20 CREDIT that can be applied toward tuition at the Lake Erie Academy of Dance. Parents who do not volunteer will not receive this credit.

Sat., Sept. 29th 12:45-3:00 LEB, Studio C - Costume Fitting / Children's Roles TBA (ages 3 - 10)

  • Schedules by part will be posted
  • Children will attend fittings (Studio C), Parents will attend Volunteer Meetings (Studio B)

Sat., Oct. 6th 12:45-3:00 LEB, Studio C - Costume Fitting / Children's Roles TBA (ages 3 - 10)

  • Schedules by part will be posted
  • Children will attend fittings (Studio C), Parents will attend Volunteer Meetings (Studio B)

Sat. Oct. 13th 12:45-3:00 LEB, Studio C - Costume Fitting Party - Battle and Act 2

  • Schedules by part will be posted

Sat. Nov. 10th 12:30-2:30 LEB, Studio C - Costume Fitting / All Children's Roles

  • Cast members will be called according to need
  • Children will attend fittings (Studio C), Parents will attend Hair & Make up Wrkshp (Studio B)

Sat., Dec. 1st 1:00 - 2:30 LEB, Studio B - Costume Parade - Children's Roles (ages 3 - 10)

Mon. Dec. 3rd 7:00-8:30 LEB, Studio B - Costume Parade - All Party Scene, Big Battle and Act II Roles

Casting:

A cast listing for all roles in the 2012 Nutcracker will be posted Monday September 24th, 2012.

Every cast member is an integral part to the production. Please do not audition if you are not prepared to accept the role that your student has been cast for. All roles cast are final. All casting will be posted on the Lake Erie Ballet website and Lake Erie Ballet Studios.

The rehearsal schedule for September through December will be posted on the internet. Rehearsal updates and changes will be posted at the Lake Erie Ballet and emailed. In the case of an emergency, you must contact and make arrangements in advance with the directors - (814) 871-4356 x3, or via email. Habitual absences and tardiness will result in dismissal from the production.
