Nutcracker 2011 Costume Requirements
Printable Costume Requirement List
Dear Parents and Dancers,
Your cooperation to adhere to proper costume etiquette is much appreciated. Parents please teach costume etiquette to your children by word and deed. It makes it a more enjoyable experience for all who are involved in the show.
Treat costumes and accessories with the utmost care and do nothing that may damage or lose them. There is only one set of costumes and accessories, replacement before a show is not possible. Many hours of work has been put into each to ensure a good fit and therefore it is expected that the cast members will be responsible for their own costume(s). Young children will have someone to help them. Send their own leotard to wear when not in costume.
Have them eat a meal before long rehearsals. Send a water bottle (nothing else) and, if you wish, a dry, plain snack such as plain crackers or pretzels (no popcorn, chips, or anything with cheese: i.e. cheese cracker or cheese puffs). There will pretzels available at the theater for the dancers to eat, too. Please do not send anything else as they will not be allowed to eat/drink these around costumes, even if they are not wearing a costume. Please do not pack anything that they may eat later (such as candy, cookies, sandwiches, juice boxes, or other treats) so that there will not be any temptations. Also, use the restroom before putting on your costume.
You may send a quiet activity that does not contain any small parts that may get lost or stepped on. Absolutely NO crayons, markers, pens, pencils, or anything else that could get on the costumes are allowed in the backstage area. They will be confiscated if they are found, so please spare the feelings of young dancers by making sure that they do not even bring them. There is to be NO playing in costume!
Please come to the theater with your child(ren)'s hair and make up for dress rehearsals and performances already done, as space is limited. Please do not put any make up on while in costume. Please send extra bobby pins and make up to touch up if needed.
If you have any costuming questions, please feel free to call or email me. My number is 455-8125.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Otulakowski
